Guide to Having a Spa Day From Home

5 At-Home Spa Ideas

Spa sessions cost time, money, and the motivation to get out of the house. Why not bring the spa to you? In this article, we'll be sharing our best DIY spa ideas!

1. Exfoliating body scrub

Your face isn't the only thing that needs to be exfoliated weekly. Your whole body requires regular exfoliation to remove the buildup of oil and dead skin cells. Opt for a loofa and some natural body wash to keep it simple or make your own body scrub. We recommend a brown sugar and honey scrub. Mix together some brown sugar and olive oil. Add in some manuka honey, which is beneficial for both dry and acne-prone skin types. Upgrade your scrub by adding some lemon or orange essential oil for an uplifting scent.

2. Aromatherapy Shower

Baths tend to be known as more spa-like, but why not turn your shower into the perfect relaxation space? Choose a relaxing essential oil such as lavender and add a few drops to a damp rag or sponge. Place this on the floor in front of you as you shower to allow the steam to release the scents. You can also opt for hanging some fresh lavender on your shower head.

3. Deep Conditioning Hair Treatment

You don't need a spa to get luscious locks. Opt for an all-natural, handmade avocado hair mask. Avocados are rich source of proteins, amino acids and vitamins, which helps soothe the scalp and promotes strong, healthy hair growth. Try mashing up an avocado and applying directly to your hair and scalp for some instant moisture and nourishment.

4. Laser, but not laser

Hair removal can be stressful and awkward at times, going into the salon and asking for a Brazillian isn't everyone's cup of tea. Even with advanced treatments like laser, it can be very expensive. Opt for alternative home methods of hair removal such as turning shaving into a spa-like experience. For permanent hair removal, IPL (intense pulsed light) is a great alternative to laser and costs a fraction of the price. Check out our IPL Hair Removal Kit here!

5. Purifying Facial (of course we couldn't leave out Microdermabrasion!)

For the perfect at-home facial treatment, start by cleansing your face with a gentle cleanser. Pat-dry your face and prep your DermaTech Microdermabrasion Device. Use the Microdermabrasion head for gentle exfoliation and a skin massage or opt for the long head if you want stronger suction. Follow-up with a hydrating serum and moisturize. The microdermabrasion beforehand will purify your skin, boost skin circulation, and allow the serum and moisturizer to penetrate better into your skin.
